Palace Skateboards – LED & Projection-Mapped Ceiling Installation

    Client: Palace Skateboards
Location: Melrose Ave, West Hollywood (Los Angeles, CA)
Role: Projectionist / Display Installation Lead
    Collaborators: Krueger Architects, Faulding Architecture
Format: Curved LED Feature Wall + Projection-Mapped Dome Ceiling

    Description:
For the flagship Palace Skateboards store on Melrose in West Hollywood, I was brought in to support the build-out of their immersive digital environment—installing both the curved LED panel wall and the custom projection-mapped dome ceiling. The store’s interior features a replica Pantheon-inspired dome, complete with Romanesque square coffers, which provided the perfect architectural canvas for dynamic content mapping.

I served as the on-site projectionist and installation lead, overseeing projector setup, alignment, and the creation of mapped zones across the ceiling’s geometric coffers. Each coffer became its own “micro-screen,” allowing us to blend architectural form with digital motion. The dome’s curvature made it the ideal surface for simulated skyscapes and atmospheric visuals, transforming the retail environment into a hybrid of classical architecture and cutting-edge display technology.

The result is a striking immersive feature that complements Palace’s bold brand ethos—merging skate culture with high-design digital art.

    Highlights:

    • Installed and aligned a custom projection-mapped dome ceiling inspired by the Pantheon
    • Configured and installed the curved LED panel wall as the store’s primary digital feature
    • Mapped individual architectural coffers into micro-displays for animated content
    • Created seamless dome coverage suitable for skyscapes, patterns, and branded visuals
    • Collaborated with Faulding / Krueger Architects to blend Romanesque design with digital media tech
    • Delivered a unique, high-impact installation for Palace’s premier U.S. retail location
