ENVISION FESTIVAL — VIDEO DIRECTOR (4-Year Case Study)

Role: Video Director • Motion & Visual Systems • Live Capture & Content Direction
    Years: 4 consecutive seasons
    Location: Uvita, Costa Rica

    Overview

For four years, I served as the Video Director for Envision Festival — one of the world’s most influential eco-conscious music and arts festivals. My role spanned creative direction, live show visuals, on-site capture, post-production editing, and managing multi-day content workflows across multiple stages and teams.

Working inside a uniquely wild, high-production environment, I helped define the festival’s visual identity through film, motion, and storytelling — translating the energy of the jungle, the art, and the performances into cohesive content that lived far beyond the event itself.

    My Role & Responsibilities

    1. Live Festival Video Direction

    • Oversaw all live capture for music, movement, art installations, workshops, and immersive experiences.
    • Directed roaming and stage-based camera teams.
    • Coordinated timing and coverage with stage managers, VJs, and performers.

    2. Motion Graphics & Post-Production

    • Edited daily recap videos, highlight films, social content, and artist-focused reels.
    • Built fast-turnaround content pipelines for next-day releases.
    • Created motion graphics, titles, transitions, and branded overlays.

    3. Visual Identity & Story Development

    • Helped evolve the recurring visual language of Envision’s brand across yearly themes.
    • Developed shot lists and story arcs that represented the festival’s culture: movement, wellness, sustainability, spirituality, and music.
    • Ensured every deliverable felt cohesive and on-brand.

    4. Cross-Team Collaboration

    • Worked closely with leadership, media managers, photographers, and editors across multiple international teams.
    • Coordinated deliverables for sponsors, partners, and headlining artists.
    • Collaborated with stage design, lighting, and projection teams to ensure visuals integrated with the environment.

    Creative Approach

Envision is unlike any traditional festival — everything is set within the jungle. My approach focused on amplifying this natural environment:

    • Camera movement echoing the flow of the jungle
    • Color grading inspired by tropical light and earthy tones
    • Rhythmic editing aligned with organic textures
    • Emphasis on connection, community, and nature

Each year, the visual language expanded, but the core remained the same: show Envision not just as a festival, but as a transformational experience.

Production Highlights (Combined From All 4 Years)

    • Delivered annual highlight films, daily recaps, and special-edition short pieces.
    • Directed content for all major stages, including headliners and sunset/sunrise sets.
    • Produced multi-camera shoots for yoga, workshops, fire performances, and immersive art.
    • Captured aerial, underwater, and slow-motion footage (depending on year’s setup).
    • Managed a high-volume, high-speed content pipeline in extreme tropical conditions.
    • Worked with international teams across the U.S., Costa Rica, Europe, and South America.

    Impact

    • Increased the festival’s global reach through high-quality video content.
    • Helped define the cinematic style that many festivals later tried to emulate.
    • Supported major brand partnerships and artist promotions.
    • Contributed to consistent sell-out years by shaping how the world saw Envision online.

The work continues to live across Envision’s social platforms, partner promo reels, and international festival spotlights.

    Closing Summary

Across four seasons, I developed a deep creative understanding of Envision’s identity. My role went beyond documentation — it was about crafting the emotional and visual language that represented the heart of the festival.
